The region where Benicarló is located is also full of attractions. Below we propose different routes:
To begin with, we must highlight the Route of the Ancient Olive Trees. Although we find some specimens in our municipality, the area formed by La Jana, Canet lo Roig and Traiguera is where we find authentic forests of these great monumental specimens, without forgetting the production of high quality oil.

Less than 20 minutes from Benicarló, you will find Traiguera, an inland town famous for its pottery workshop. Also noteworthy is the parish church of the town, Gothic Renaissance (15th-16th century) with the bell tower and parish museum, and the Royal Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Fuente de la Salud (16th century). It was commissioned by Philip II.

Sant Mateu (26 km away) is the historic capital of the Maestrat and a site of monumental historical interest. Highlights include the archpriestly temple (13th century), the Gothic Town Hall (16th century), the Gothic-style Palace of the Borrull and the Renaissance-style Palace of the Marquis of Villores (16th century). You can also visit the Archiprestal, Historical and Paleontological museums.

Outside the Baix Maestrat region, but very close, we also highlight:
TÃrig (37 km away), where we find the Valltorta ravine, one of the most important open-air cave paintings in the world, declared a World Heritage Site. The Valltorta Museum has four exhibition rooms on Levantine art, audiovisuals, a reproduction of the Cueva de los Caballos and the possibility of guided tours and workshops. Levantine rock art is a World Heritage Site.

Vilafranca, 90 km away, where we find the Gothic Town Hall (14th century), with an altarpiece on panels by ValentÃn Montoliu from 1455. In the Renaissance parish church (1567 to 1572), there is an altarpiece of San Miguel by Bernardo Sierra from 1470. We also find the hermitage of the Virgen del Losar of Baroque architecture (18th century). In Puebla del Bellestar, you can admire the Hermitage of San Miguel, the Customs Tower and the Gothic Bridge.

52 km from Benicarló, we find CatÃ. It is a town that preserves an old town with all the aroma of medieval times. Highlights include the Lonja with its civil Gothic architecture (1427) and the Gothic parish church (15th century), with the Communion Chapel and fresco and sgraffito paintings. Also worth mentioning is the Romanesque façade (13th century) and an altarpiece from the 15th century. You can visit the hermitage of Avellà (16th century), which also has high-quality water fountains. Artisan nougat and fresh cheese are typical.

Ares del Maestrat is located 80 km from Benicarló. It is an ancient town located at an altitude of 1,200m on an imposing rocky mass from where you can observe the rugged terrain of the region. It preserves the remains of the Castle of La Mola and cave paintings in the Remigia cave.

Benassal, 75 km away, is known for its Font d'en Segures Spa. In the historic centre we can find the Conjunto de la Mola (12th century), of which the façade and part of the castle are preserved, which today has been restored to house the archaeological museum of the region. Also noteworthy are the parish church (18th century) and the house museum of the Valencian writer Carles Salvador.
